Chanticleer

The male vocal ensemble Chanticleer is applauded around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its wide-ranging repertoire and dazzling virtuosity. The group’s repertoire, rooted in the renaissance, has expanded since its founding in 1978 to include classical, gospel, jazz, popular music and new works. The group is named for Chanticleer, the “clear singing” rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Canellakis-Brown Duo

Cellist Nicholas Canellakis and pianist-composer Michael Stephen Brown, colleagues at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, have been playing duo concerts together throughout the world for more than a decade. In addition, Michael Stephen Brown is a critically acclaimed composer and Nick Canellakis a filmmaker and actor. They have been described as “a pair of adventurous young talents who play with their antennae tuned to each other.”

Cellist Nicholas Canellakis and pianist-composer Michael Stephen Brown curate an eclectic program that is close to their hearts. Showcasing the duo’s inimitable style, the program features classics alongside rarely heard gems and their own compositions and arrangements, all presented with the duo’s infectious rapport.

The Vivaldi Project

The Pawling Concert Series will reach back to the music of the 17th and 18th centuries as we welcome musicians from the Vivaldi Project. This period instrument ensemble takes its name from composer Antonio Vivaldi in recognition of his pivotal position between earlier Baroque and later Classical composers. In addition to familiar string instruments, the group will include harpsichord and theorbo, as well as a vocalist.

The New York Philharmonic String Quartet

The New York Philharmonic String Quartet

The Pawling Concert Series will welcome four members of the New York Philharmonic for a program of string quartets in mid-November. Formed in January 2017 during the Philharmonic’s 175th season, the Quartet is composed of the principals of the orchestra’s string sections. Since 2017, they have appeared throughout the United States and on international tours.

John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey

John Pizzarelli (guitarist and singer) and Jessica Molaskey (veteran of a dozen Broadway shows) will come to Pawling on October 13 to do what they do so well: bring us the music of our time via the Great American Songbook and favorites from musical theater. In addition to their separate careers and their weekly radio show, the duo enjoys regular two-month long engagements at the Café Carlyle in New York, called “as good as it gets in any medium” by one reviewer.
